The History of Ties—The Birth of the Scalloped Necktie:

The Eureka Moment! MyNextie is Born.

Update on the history of ties with this unique invention... Back in the late 60’s, while living in Haight Ashbury, Dr. Steven Zuckerman hated the neckties he was forced to wear as a young doctor. Bored with this ritual given to men, he had his wife make him some outlandish psychedelic ties, perfect for the times, of bright Thai silk. Those ties were temporary relief and soon the ritual again became a chore for the doctor. Lightning struck, he says, one Minnesota night in 1988. He dreamt he was window shopping on a cold, dimly lit, winter night. He’s gazing at a presentation of men's neckties, sworiginal tieirled out in a undulating fashion for a beautiful display. The street lights cast an eerie shadow effect through the glass, making the ties appear scalloped, beautiful! When he awoke, the light bulbs went off. “Eureka, that's it, dreams don't lie, this is a great idea! I'll invent a new mens fashion necktie.”

He went right to work creating his fashionable scalloped necktie. His sister Bernice, a fashion designer in New York City, crafted the new scalloped necktie prototypes in lively silk dress prints. They christened them Belle Ties after Bernice's middle name. After applying for a patent they went about solving the technical difficulties of making a consistent scalloped Few manufactures wanted the trouble this unique scalloped necktie presented and marketing the new fashion necktie proved daunting as well.
